“YOUTH CRIME – WHO’S AFFECTED” – Workshop

Peter Olawaye has set up Aiming Skywards – an youth led organization that aims to find solutions to young people who are at risk of falling into a life of crime, while also creating employment opportunities . Between 17:00pm and 18:30pm young people aged between 11-18 are welcome to dive in a hour and a half of discussions, games, exercises and many more practises, which will help them gain a better vision and understanding of their future and crime risks!

DRAMA WORKSHOP

Drama Workshop aims to help young people overcome emotional problems of various types with the help of different drama therapeutic methods. The workshop is organised by Off Centre, and Off centre itself is a counselling, therapy, advocacy, advice and information service for young people aged between 11 and 25 who live, work or study in Hackney. Their services are free, confidential and aimed at helping Hackney’s young people to have greater control over their lives. They help people with all kinds of emotional and practical issues including sexuality, bereavement, violence,depression, accommodation, college, stress, abuse, family breakdown, self-harm, anger, neglect, identity and more.

“TACKLING INTERVIEWS” – Workshop

‘Tackling Interviews’ workshops for unemployed people at Workshop44. These free workshops encourage participants to improve presentation, confidence, and practical techniques needed when undertaking successful job interviews. LEARN HOW TO FIX YOUR BIKE
Bikeworks is coming to town!!! The much expected bikeworks workshop is about to happen starting Thusrday, 10th May, 5pm. We are all looking forward to finally finding out how our bikes work and learn how to do it yourself and save a pretty penny. Those committed to learning more about the inner workings of bikes have the opportunity to take an in depth 6weeks course at Bikeworks headquarters in Benthal Green.
MAKE A MUSIC VIDEO
Every Tuesday evening in May we’ll be watching, talking about, scripting and then filming a music video. Working with music professionals, film maker who’s produced videos for MTV and local musicians the video we ultimately produce will be screened at the Picture House in June as part of BBC Radio 1 Fire in the Booth

PHOTOGRAPHY AND REPORTING – Freedom
Niall Obrien talks about his documentary photography and career before we set the brief around FREEDOM. Pairs of photographers / copy writer needed to respond to the idea of FREEDOM as a young Londoner / reporter. This could touch on Stop & Search, the change in public space laws around the Olympics or Occupy. Reporter Glenn Mcmahon and Jess will be joining the debate

Creative project with professional photographer to explore the subject of HOME
Who’s it for? Are you U24, have something to say on the subject of HOME? We’ve got a 2 hour session with Olivia Harris from Reuters news wire to explore documentary photography as a means of communications
This will suit you if you’ve got a story you want to communicate around “HOME”, you’re interested in photography and / or being photographed to help raise awareness around struggle for reasonable housing that faces young people.

SCRIPT WRITING - KNOW YOUR STORY. With Chima
the workshop will use the three act structure of a play/film script to get young people to talk about their own personal story - allowing them to chart where they have come, how they want to change and where they want to go.

ART EXHIBITION WITH ST. PAUL & ST MICHAEL PRIMARY SCHOOL
Children are taking out their utensils to show us how its done. Expecting a rainbow of color on the theme ‘Family and Community Life’ to brighten up our workshop. They have just another week to finish up their masterpieces and hand them over to a critical jury, the children’s council, who will pick the best 25 which will turn into the first such exhibit in the area.
